English as a Second Language (ESL)

The English as a Second Language (ESL) course sequence provides instruction in the English language for the student whose first language is not English. These courses are designed to meet the needs of students with limited English language proficiency. An admission to each level is determined through placement examination. Students are required to complete the ESL sequence from the point of initial placement. Each level includes a comprehensive academically oriented curriculum in reading, writing, listening, speaking skills, and basic vocabulary. Bramson ORT’s College’s highly qualified and experienced faculty integrates all language skills with the use of grammar in context. The ESL program at Bramson ORT College specializes in preparing non-native English speakers for study in an American College classroom.

Program Description

A variety of pedagogical methods are utilized to improve English skills, among them differentiated instruction and cooperative learning. Interactive technology is a major component of our ESL classes, thereby allowing our English language learners to further develop their writing, reading and listening skills, along with improving their computer skills. Audio-videotape materials, software and Internet resources are incorporated into courses at all levels. These courses are taken alongside of your degree programs and are not offered as stand alone courses.
